Visible Things IoT: LoRa platform by Avnet Silica

Avnet Silica has joined the LoRa AllianceVisible Things IoT is the first product for this platform. As an ‘Adopter’ member Avnet Silica supports the development, growth and take-up of networks based on the LoRa protocol (LoRaWAN) and the low-power wide area networking technology (LPWAN). LoRa Alliance is a non-proft association with a mission to standardize LPWANs being deployed around the world. The Visible Things IoT offering from Avnet Silica is a comprehensive platform that integrates tested, proven, and secure hardware and embedded software.

The key features of LoRaWAN include support for very-low-cost, secure long range and bi-directional communication over the Internet of Things, for Smart City
and machine-to-machine (M2M) projects, and industrial applications. The Visible Things platform connects smart sensors and embedded devices via gateway solutions or LPWANs, such as LoRaWAN, right through to cloud and enterprise software applications. The platform solution includes a LoRaWAN networkbased development kit.

We are proud to be an official part of the ecosystem, promoting the technology and our solutions for LoRaWAN networks,

said Alviano Burello, regional technical marketing manager at Avnet Silica.

There is a wide expectation across the market today that there will be hundreds of millions of LoRaWAN based end-node sensors in the coming years.
As part of our mission to simplify the complexity of IoT designs, Avnet Silica is making ready to launch a new reference design module integrating a low power Cortex-M0 based microcontroller, a LoRaWAN transceiver, and a secure element that enables secure repository of the encryption,

he added. Avnet Silica has partnered with leading semiconductor makers and innovative solution providers over many years.
