Smart City: Consol helps Dubai pass digital health test

As part of an ambitious project to fast-forward Dubai into the digital age, the tiny sheikdom has launched “Dubai Smart City” which is scheduled to combine a series of projects all aimed at creating digital services for citizens and visitors. Recently, the authorities have commissioned Munich-based ConSol Consulting to connect all nation’s health centers and simplify the necessary paperwork for issuing visas to more than 2 million visitors each year. Applicants for a working visa must pass a state mandated health test involving authorities, health care providers and immigration officials. The test itself consists of a battery of examinations including blood tests and x-rays.

The aim of the project, which is based on ConSols CM technology, was to create a completely digitized end-to-end system from the initial application to the health report submitted to immigration. This meant that tight integration had to be achieved between numerous systems, applications, and databases.

ConSol, an IT service provider, set up and tested the system successfully and in record time thanks to its ConSol CM rapid application development tool, a state-of-the-art development platform that is capable of integrating and implementing a wide range of business applications very quickly The “low code” system does not require special developer , thus relieving the strain on IT departments.

„For ConSols, the Dubai Health Authority system represents a lighthouse project in the Gulf region”, says CEO Michael Beutner. “Thanks to comprehensive capture and availability of the data provided by applicants and combining them with the results delivered by health examiners, the number of manual steps required is reduced to a bare minimum”, he claims. The system can be quickly adapted to changes in health regulations and offers authorities additional ways to monitor and control the visa process.
