IoT platform: Google Device Management Pioneer Xively

Google has announced that it has entered into an agreement to acquire Xively, a division of Log-MeIn, Inc. As until 2020 an estimated number of 20 billion connected things will be online, by then analytics and data storage in the cloud will be the cornerstone of any successful IoT platform solution. This acquisition, which is still subject to closing conditions, will complement Google Cloud’s effort to provide a fully managed IoT service that easily and securely connects, manages, and ingests data from globally dispersed devices. Xively’s robust, enterprise-ready IoT platform is supposed to acce-lerate Googles customers’ timeline from IoT vision to product.

Through this acquisition, Cloud IoT Core will gain deep IoT technology and engineering expertise, including Xively’s advanced device management, messaging, and dashboard capabilities. Google and it’s customers are expected to benefit from Xively’s feature set and device management plat-form.
