Google Pay available in Germany

With support for four local banks, Google is launching its Google Pay service in Germany. German Users can immediately download the app from the Play Store and start adding supported credit and debit cards. Users can receive assistance in setting up payments from the Google page.

Initially, Google is partnering with Comdirect, Commerzbank, and N26, with LB BW and Revolut to follow soon. Google Pay works in conjunction with major credit cards such as MasterCard and most Visa cards, and customers will need to check if the card they are owning is compatible with Google Payment Service.

Retails Stores that will accept Google Payments include Aldi Süd, Lidl, Kaufland, Hornbach, MediaMarkt and Saturn as well as McDonald’s Restaurants. The Apps of Deliveroo, Flixbus, Ryanair, Adidas also accept Google Pay. However, the German regional savings banks of Sparkassen Group have announced that they are not planning to join the system anytime soon.
