Enterprise data management: Any Data, Any Time

Arm, the multinational semiconductor and software design company, owned by SoftBank Group, has acquired Treasure Data is a global leader in enterprise data management, and Stream Technologies, a leading connectivity management technology provider which maintains more than 770,000 managed subscribers. Solutions from both acquisitions will form the basis for Pelion, which Arm says will be the industry’s first end-to-end IoT connectivity, device and enterprise data management platform.
Pelion will enable faster ramp-up of IoT applications thanks to pre-tested devices carrying IoT-tailored OS, connecting the devices on global networks with one configurable SIM card, and remotely managing updates, administration and unified billing.

According to Arm, Pelion will allow greater flexibility of device types, network providers, and connectivity standards, simple device auto-deployment, unified operations, and billing, as well as cost-efficiency due to aggregated pricing, operational flexibility, and insights. Security, they maintain, will be built in from chip to cloud to mitigate device vulnerabilities.
The Pelion IoT Platform delivers a strong combined partner ecosystem of 140+ partners spanning silicon, mobile, network operators (MNOs), channel, technology providers and more. It incorporates much of the technology that propelled Treasure Data’s cloud-based Enterprise Customer Data Platform (CDP) into the market-leading position it enjoys today. Treasure Data provides the unique ability to handle massive amount of streaming web, mobile, and IoT data, which could prove to be a crucial turning point in the evolution of IoT.
