Amazon Key in Home Kit: Delivery into to your house, even when you’re not at home.

Amazon just started a revolutionary service: At the price of 249 Dollars, Prime members in certain Cities in the US can have a internet connected lock installed, that allows delivery of packages when nobody is at home. People may also grant access to the persons they trust, like family, friends, dog walkers or house cleaners. The In-Home Kit features an indoor security camera and an Amazon Key compatible smart lock. On the day of a delivery, owners will get a notification in the morning, just before and after the delivery. The Amazon-driver will then be able to open the door, deliver the package and securely lock the door again. In the coming months, Amazon plans to extend the service: All guests can then be granted temporary, recurring, or permanent access. Free professional installation of the lock, which is provided by lock manufacturers Kwikset or Yale is included with the price.

Surveys in Germany showed, that only one of ten persons would have enough trust to use this system. But these numbers may change rapidly, if the Amazon Key really works securely.
